AWE have applied to increase the amount of volatile beta emitting radioactive material they release into the atmosphere from 4.4 MegaBecquerels (MBq) to 100 MBq, an increase of more than 22 times. The Environment Agency consultation on the change runs until the 22nd February.
Our full story on the application can be found here.
A document linking to the consultation and summarising the comments NIS will be making on the consultation can be found here.
A full NIS update is almost ready for release and will be with you shortly, but we are releasing this special update due to the short timescale before the Environment Agency consultation closes.
