Webinar: Wednesday 17 March 11:00 GMT
We hosted a webinar to discuss our forthcoming new briefing. Find out what the rest of the world thinks of nuclear-armed states modernising their nuclear weapons – watch the webinar at the link above.
We’ve collated the reported comments of non-nuclear weapon states to the current nuclear weapon modernisation programmes being carried out by the nine nuclear-armed states. The study considers states’ concerns about the implications of modernisation for non-proliferation and whether it has helped drive support for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW)
Author Sanem Topal outlined the project and findings. Alicia Sanders-Zakre from ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) and Dr Gry Thomasen from BASIC (British American Security Information Council) gave their comments and outlined their own work in this area. David Cullen from NIS chaired the discussion and fielded your questions to the panel.
