Women from Aldermaston Women's Peace Camp gathered with banners outside the High Court on the Strand at 09.30 before going into court to listen intently to the proceedings.
The Women's barrister, David Pievsky, put a clear concise case, backed with legal argument as to why the 21 year old camp should continue with its monthly weekend witness for peace outside AWE Aldermaston.

The irrepressible Bernard Ainsworth
Project manager Bernard Ainsworth is clearly not a man who shirks a challenge. Having dusted himself down after the collapse of Metronet, where he was seconded from consultant Atkins, the man who built the controversial O2 dome in south-east London is back at Atkins once more. His new posting? Working with the Atomic Weapons Establishment on its 750-acre site at Aldermaston. Should be a doddle.

Objections to Components Manufacturing Facility over-ruled
In July 2007 NIS submitted a series of requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act asking for action plans and post-exercise review documents relating to any emergency exercise held in 2006/2007 for AWE Aldermaston or AWE Burghfield.
In response to this request, eight documents were released by the Health and Safety Executive’s Nuclear Directorate. This report summarises the documents and draws conclusions on the adequacy of emergency arrangements at AWE sites.
